Explore the Blue Derby Mountain Bike Trails
Ride, Rest, Repeat: Derby Mountain Bike Trails
There’s a reason riders from all over the world come to explore the Derby mountain bike trails. With fast descents, forested switchbacks, and trails built into the natural flow of the land, this part of Tasmania has become a must-visit destination for mountain biking. Staying at Dales of Derby puts you right in the heart of it all, just a short ride from the trailheads and local bike services. Our group accommodation is purpose-built for riders. It’s where you can roll in mud, park your bike safely, and kick back in comfort after a big day out. Whether you’re here for a solo ride, a trip with mates, or your tenth return visit, we’ve made sure everything is ready when you are.
Trails for Every Rider
The Blue Derby trail network is just minutes away. With over 125 kilometres of purpose-built tracks, there’s something for every style and skill level. Smooth green trails like Lake Derby are perfect for newer riders or families, while runs like Air Ya Garn and Detonate give more experienced riders a proper challenge. And of course, there’s Flickety Sticks, one of the most loved flow trails in the country. The best part? From Dales of Derby, you can ride straight out the door and onto the trails. No need to pack up and drive.

If you didn’t bring your own, no worries. Derby mountain bike hire is available nearby, with a wide selection of bikes to suit different riders. You’ll find hardtails, full-suspension options, and even e-bikes ready to go. Most hire shops also offer basic repairs, trail advice, and maps if you’re new to the area. We are Built for Groups and Loved by Riders
Dales of Derby is designed to make your trip feel effortless. Our award-winning space fits up to 24 people and includes four queen rooms and two bunk-style rooms, perfect for teams, schools, or riding crews. Everyone has a space to crash, and no one is fighting over the bathroom after a muddy ride. It’s a place where the riding does not stop at the trailhead. It continues around the dinner table, by the fire, or on the deck with a drink in hand.
