Our story would go something like this..
We love Derby and have been visiting for a couple of years now from Adelaide.
Usually it is all about the biking but I fell in love with the Dales of Derby building and we decided to rent it for a week.
My son and I became a little obsessed with the notion of seeing a platypus, as recent guests had done.
We discovered many ways NOT to spot one of these shy darling creatures.
Seemingly skimming stones is a good way to scare them off. Getting into their habitat wasn’t successful (although it was refreshing and fun!) and trying to camouflage oneself in the greenery also did not prove fruitful.
Well, obviously it is a sign that we need to return and continue to work on our platypus-spotting skills.
We had a magical week and dream of returning soon.
